Topic: A classic story of creating a product to solve a problem (with some earth friendly motivation in mind).

Guest: Julie Zizka

Our story starts in 2008 as two friendly neighbors wanting to make a difference in our world. Before we knew it we created Momentum 1 Products, Inc., a company dedicated to creating innovative and responsible products that contribute to positive lifestyles, a healthy planet, and charitable causes. We truly believe in the power of products that care.

Our first product is The Tote Buddy. It’s the world’s first reusable grocery bag organizer. The Tote Buddy neatly organizes reusable bags allowing you to keep them close at hand for all shopping trips. By using The Tote Buddy and reusable bags, we’re helping to keep hundreds of thousands of plastic bags out of our landfills and oceans.

Topic: Someone Like Me

Guest: John W. Quinn

I was born with cerebral palsy. In spite of partial paralysis, two different sized feet, and the inability to walk prior to the age of four, I still was able to not only find employment, but retired at the age of forty after a highly successful twenty-year career in a major corporation: the United States Navy. I did it all while keeping my condition a complete secret out of a deep desire to be treated just like everyone else.

In Someone Like Me, An Unlikely Story of Challenge and Triumph over Cerebral Palsy, I describe what it is like to live with a handicap—a life filled with pain, laughter and love.

I wrote this book to give hope to the millions of people struggling with muscular disorders who fight to make it through every day. It is also for the parents who lie awake at night and wonder what the future holds for their children–those who resist leaving the house for fear of being laughed at because they are different.  Decades later, I can still remember that laughter.

With a little luck and lots of hard work and determination to succeed despite overwhelming odds, sometimes we can indeed achieve what seems impossible.

Topic: Healing Jewelry as Works of Art
Guest:
Andrea Rosenfeld
No artist can predict where her passion for creation will take her.

Artist Andrea Rosenfeld’s exciting journey has been evolutionary: from a University of Michigan Art Student to Perry Ellis Portfolio Menswear Assistant Merchandiser, to Isaac Mizrahi Ltd. Director of Merchandising and Operations, and finally to creating and owning her own jewelry line. Rosenfeld’s ultimate destination: Hot Rox Jewelry

Skilled in metal working, loom weaving, silk screening, photography, fashion design, drawing, painting, ceramics, woodworking — and now jewelry design — Rosenfeld makes use of a combination of materials and techniques, and places emphasis on texture as a main force in her creations.

The most recent path of Rosenfeld’s artistic journey has resulted in Hot Rox Jewelry’s new Kavanah Healing Line. Born out of her desire to create something for a higher purpose, she creates pieces infused with her own personal message of hope and strength, and the belief that the wearer can feel the power of these specific healing stones and their energy of creation and regeneration. In addition to offering healing properties to her clients, Rosenfeld is working towards using only recycled, reclaimed and Fair Trade materials in her work thereby making sure that the companies she supports treat their laborers with respect and compassion.

Her sculptural and playful Hot Rox Jewelry and Kavanah lines sell in boutiques, museum stores and at Bloomingdale’s Trunk Shows, but her creative passion has taken her beyond merely fashioning jewelry art to sell.

This new Kavanah Healing line has captured the interest of the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation, and Rosenfeld has been asked to co-chair for an upcoming Komen Event. She is also planning to teach cancer patients to make jewelry while enlightening them to the power of healing stones.

In addition to offering healing art using eco-friendly materials, Rosenfeld also donates her jewelry art and a percentage of her proceeds to various charities to help raise money for their causes.

Topic: The Simplicity of Stillness®

Guest: Marlise Karlin

Marlise Karlin is a spiritual teacher who offers people a profound connection to their essence through The Simplicity of Stillness®. In 2001, after a life-altering experience completely shifted her perception of life, Marlise began a journey of greater discovery.

These timeless moments continued, and in 2004 Marlise began traveling the world, discovering further how people from every culture found what they needed in the presence of the Stillness.

Marlise’s own journey was fueled by the limitations of her dramatic childhood circumstances — growing up with an alcoholic parent, becoming a teenage runaway and substance abuser and then becoming a young single mother. She later transformed herself into a successful entrepreneur and award-winning film producer.

In the midst of her newfound success, a debilitating injury caused Marlise’s unrelenting curiosity to once again delve into what she had always been searching for: a deeper understanding of inner freedom, the Love that has existed throughout time. From the life-altering realizations offered to her in Stillness, Marlise developed The Simplicity of Stillness® which incorporates simple methods so people everywhere — regardless of culture, race or religion — can learn how practical it is to bring this awareness into their daily lives.

Stillness Sessions® assist people in discovering their natural state of being. Music and words are infused with the energy of Stillness to offer people an experience of the Presence of Love within their own hearts.

From Africa to Indonesia to Eastern and Western Europe, and across North America – people from every walk of life attest to the many benefits The Simplicity of Stillness has offered them. Many speak of old beliefs that caused them pain, naturally being released, opening the way for more enjoyment in their personal lives and business relationships.

Identified by SheKnows.com as an inner-peace expert, Marlise Karlin is also an ongoing contributor to The Huffington Post, Divine Caroline and Malika Chopra’s Intent.com Wellness blog

Marlise is currently offering Programs and Retreats around the world, writing her first book, as well as recording Stillness Sessions and a lecture series to be made available in 2010.

The Practices® embrace all religious and spiritual beliefs and are not affiliated with any religion or tradition.
